All i had to do was remove it from my inventory (or in this case sell it). It happened to me using a shield from the mission. Try making to new character, that worked for me. From there you’ll embark on a quest to survive, discover, explore and fight your way across an infinite universe. Same thing happened with me with rice, yet all i had to ddo was walk past it and boom! I would get kicked or teleported to my ship. I stowed the weapon in a box and I stopped getting kicked off. Maybe calling up the pic of the weapon is the problem. You don't need to even fire the weapon.just try to access it briefly. All I had to do was scroll past it and I would get kicked off.

But that didn't fix it.it was still kicking me off. Click on your in-game friend's username and you will see some options. Then, press shift - tab to access Steam overlay. Then launch Starbound and wait on the menu. I had reinstalled Starbound after I backed up my game, as suggested.
